The Monferrato is one of the best-kept secrets in Italy, a beautiful region in Piedmont that has received UNESCO status for some years. It is also my home, and I have photographed here for many years. It is a land that is forever changing, every day offering something different in light and perspective. In the autumn it is a land of mists and mellow fruitfulness, where the vineyards change daily, grape harvesting is frenetic, the land yields valuable white truffles. In winter it can be cold and rigorous, with snow or heavy frost, but also stunning sunsets. Spring brings growth, colour, joy, energy. In summer the heat prevails, the days are long and light-hearted, filled with festas. The mood is constantly changing, and so too my interpretation.
