Buffalo Roundup

Every year in Custer State Park, South Dakota, there is a roundup of the American bison, that have made a healthy recovery from near extinction after being reintroduced into the territory. The bison, locally referred to as buffalo, are herded by modern day cowboys and cowgirls to be counted, branded and some slaughtered to keep there numbers stable.. The excitement is palpable, the context takes one back in time, the only apparent difference with the past being a mobile phone in every rider’s pocket.
