Landings

Long before drones were around, I held a fascination for aerial photography. These images are taken some 20 years ago while coming in to land on routine flights, in Spain and Australia. No control over the direction of the plane, but pure delight and excitement at the scenes unfolding below, the incredible mix of man and nature to create such vivid, graphic images, which have become pure abstract. They are also a homage to the Swiss photographer Georg Gerster, who was one of the first to really use aerial photography as a creative medium.
